Adam Lipsius
1980-something
Adam Lipsius wrote, produced and directed action-thriller “Crime Story,” for Paramount Pictures in 2021. It stars Academy Award Winners Richard Dreyfuss and Mira Sorvino. Netflix and SyFy Channel produced two of his other scripts: “Asteroid vs. Earth,” in 2013 and “Oceans Rising,” (which he directed) in 2017.
He also produced and directed “Amy & Sophia” in 2018, a drama which played the Denver, Sedona and Heartland Film Festivals, winning Best Welsh Feature at the Cardiff Int’l Film Festival and “16-LOVE” a teen rom-com about tennis which was Warner Bros. Digital’s top acquisition of 2012. Additionally, he produced “Star Raiders: The Adventures of Saber Raine” in Colorado in 2014, a feature film starring Casper Van Dien.
He has worked in advertising since 1994 when he was the International New Business Coordinator for Saatchi & Saatchi Kids Connection, successfully managing the pitch that won Procter & Gamble’s New Product Development business. His other clients have included Burger King Kids Club, Tylenol, Little Tikes, Bratz Dollz, the Democratic National Committee, OxiClean, Kaboom, Teatulia Tea, et al.
He authored kids mystery novel “Knox Chase on the Case” in 2016 as well as “The Birth of Dr. Seuss” (published in 2017), a critical biography of children’s author, Theodor Seuss Geisel.
An alumnus of Dartmouth College and a graduate of USC Cinema-Television where his MFA Thesis Film "4° (Four Degrees)" won an Institute for Humane Studies Scholarship, Adam worked in post-production on films for Martin Scorsese, Milos Forman, Ang Lee, James Mangold and John Sayles, among others. Nominated for a Golden Reel for ADR on Barry Sonnenfeld’s “Men in Black,” Adam has won numerous awards for his shorts, commercials and features.
He lives in Denver and serves on the boards of Rocky Mountain PBS and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Denver. He teaches production and screenwriting at CU Denver in the College of Arts and Media.
